MODEL / REFERENCE: Universal Genève 18K dress watch with an Obsidian dial. Reference 1400
DIAL+HANDS: The beauty of this watch truly lies in this highly unusual Obsidian dial, with a wavy light brown pattern on the left half. Furthermore, the translucent dial changes tone pending on the angle of light, giving it an incredible appearance. The dial is in excellent original condition showing no damage and a complete but imperfect white imprint, from the brand’s logo, to the indexes and minutes track. The white pencil handset is clean and contrasts beautifully with the dark brown and black colors of the dial.
CRYSTAL: The mineral crystal is clean and has no chips or scratches.
CASE: The elegant round case is made from 18k solid yellow gold, measures 29mm in diameter and 34mm from lug to lug. The charming, stepped bezel and downturned lugs hug the wrist, making it a real charmer to wear. The case is most likely unpolished as it maintains a strong profile with sharp lines. It displays minimal signs of wear for its age, commensurate with careful wear.
CASE BACK: The single-step, 18k yellow gold case back is held in the reverse side of the case by 4 screws. The overall condition is excellent, seen by the residue of the sticker, the horizontal brushed finish and the crisply stamped reference number. The inner side is clean and bears all the period-correct stamps. The Poinçon de Maître displays the number 38 indicative of the case maker: Max Fuchs S.A.
CROWN: The original crown bears the brand’s signature logo and operates as intended.
MOVEMENT: The in- house caliber 1-42 is a reliable, manually-wound movement, featuring 17 jewels and an incabloc shock protection device. The numbered caliber is in excellent mechanical condition, winds smoothly and keeps accurate time, despite the unknown service history.
BRACELET: The genuine, black leather strap with crocodile motif is signed Universal Genève. It is barely worn and comes with an original, golden pin-buckle.
ACCESSORIES: Saffiano Leather Watch Roll. It’s no secret that Universal Genève is one of the most well-respected Swiss watchmakers of all time, and with details on a watch like this, it’s clear to see why. The dial, crown, case back, movement, and buckle are signed. The watch is fully functional and ready to be worn.

Given that vintage watches are antique collector items, we do not provide any guarantee on movement accuracy, water-proofing or any other mechanical guarantee unless it is mentioned in the product description.
We check all watches when listing the watch for sales, and again before shipping. In rare cases, shipping can cause the movement problems. Therfore, please check all functions of the watch upon receipt. Should you find any issues, please notifiy us by email without dealy.
