We are proud to present this superb and very fine, Patek Philippe reference 437, commonly known as the “Baby Calatrava”. The Calatrava lineup has evolved with a variety of choices in metals, sizes and dials, but the look remains unmistakably elegant and iconic. The present reference 437 is interesting in so many ways. Launched in 1935, Only 119 examples were manufactured in stainless steel, making it very rare and sought after by collectors.
MODEL / REFERENCE: Patek Philippe dress watch reference 437. The 617’XXX case number dates it to 1945. The watch was sold on June 13th 1947 according to the extract of archives.
DIAL+ HANDS: The white dial is interesting and compelling. Starting with the “eggshell” texture, all the way to the raised arrowhead hour markers and applied Arabic numerals at the quarters. The black minutes chapter at the periphery, the brand’s name and the subsidiary dial’s chapter are all present but appear to have been retouched in the past. The silver leaf hands, along with the blued seconds hand are in very good condition and appear to be correct to this reference.
CRYSTAL: The Plexiglas crystal is clean overall has been polished by the watchmaker
CASE: The Sleek round case of the Calatrava features a sophisticated design, with superb definition to the flat bezel and down-turn of the drilled lugs. At 28mm in diameter, this midsize stainless steel case is well-suited for both men and women. Overall, the case is in good condition, it appears to have been lightly polished. It shows even lugs, few signs of wear throughout and no major nicks to its surface.
CASEBACK: The timepiece comes with a snap-on case back in stainless steel. In overall good condition, it displays few hairline scratches, over a beautiful brushed finish commensurate with careful wear. The inner side is corrosion free, bearing the period correct nomenclature, including a crisply stamped hallmark of the infamous “Fabrique François Borgel”, as well as the case’s serial and batch numbers.
MOVEMENT: The Patek Philippe 10-110 manually wound caliber with sub seconds is of outstanding quality with handsome Geneva stripes across the surface of the plates. The numbered movement features 18 jewels, beats at 21,600 vph and has been regulated to heat, cold, isochronism as well as 5 positions. It is clean and fully functional thus it winds smoothly, runs with high amplitude and keeps good time.
CROWN: This timepiece comes with an unsigned and domed stainless steel crown, a probable replacement. The crown operates as it should, from winding to time setting.
BRACELET: Genuine, 16mm black leather strap signed Patek Philippe and an stainless steel pin buckle, signed PPc.

We check all watches when listing the watch for sales, and again before shipping. In rare cases, shipping can cause the movement problems. Therfore, please check all functions of the watch upon receipt. Should you find any issues, please notifiy us by email without dealy.
