We are proud to offer this classic and elegant solid gold dress watch from Universal Genève with a superb, eye-catching linen dial.
This watch is part of a set of three 18k Universal Geneve dress watches. It can be purchased as set or individually. We acquired the set from the family of the original owner in Portugal.

MODEL / REFERENCE: Universal Genève solid gold dress watch reference 129001. The serial number is 701177.
DIAL+HANDS: The main draw is the superbly executed golden dial with linen motif, which remains clean and fresh, setting the watch apart by adding a touch of some pleasing light-play, accentuated by the highly polished, applied logo at 12 o’clock. The black printing is very crisp and presents no losses. Overall, the dial displays a very subtle patina, with no blemishes or marks. The long, applied baton hour markers complete the look, as they are ornate with contrasting black onyx accents. The black, pencil hands appear to be correct and in very good condition, presenting light surface oxidation.
CRYSTAL: The mineral crystal is clean without visible marks or defects.
CASE: The tonneau-shaped, solid yellow gold case measures 25mm across and 31mm from lug to lug. The case appears to have been polished in the past but still maintains a good profile with a stepped bezel that adds to its character and charm. The surface shows minimal signs of wear for its age, commensurate with very careful wear.
CASE BACK: The stepped case back is in solid yellow gold with a small lip for snap-on opening. The surface displays a mix of a highly polished periphery and a vertically brushed center, with its slightly faded, but legible reference and serial numbers. There are some honest signs of gentle use throughout as expected for a watch from this era. The inner side is clean and bears all the period-correct stamps. The Poinçon de Maître displays the number 29 indicative of the case maker: Weber & Cie S.A.
CROWN: The original crown bears the brand’s signature and operates as it should.
MOVEMENT: The in-house caliber 28 is a reliable, self-winding, time only movement. It features a shock-protecting device and 17 jewels. The numbered calibre is in excellent mechanical condition, winds smoothly, and keeps very accurate time.
BRACELET: The genuine, brown leather strap with crocodile motif is signed Universal Genève. It is barely worn and comes with an original, golden pin-buckle.
ACCESSORIES: C Saffiano Leather Watch Roll. Universal Genève produced many styles of watches over the years and we think they aced this wonderfully elegant dress watch. The dial, crown, case back, movement, and buckle are signed. The watch is fully functional and ready to be worn.
WARRANTY: We guarantee the authenticity of the watch. We also provide 12-month guarantee for the correct function of this timepiece. We check all watches when listing the watch for sales, and again before shipping. In rare cases, shipping can cause the movement problems. Therfore, please check all functions of the watch upon receipt. Should you find any issues, please notifiy us by email without dealy.
