MODEL / REFERENCE: Rado Captain Cook reference 1177. DIAL+HANDS: The black dial is pristine in every aspect, from a clean surface to an untouched sharp imprint. This particular example has minimal traces of aging and offers an easy to read layout, with zero ambiguity, Thanks to an unobtrusive framed date window at 3 o’clock. The silver, rectangular-shaped indices are beautifully machined and polished to reflect different directions of light. Each applied index is accentuated by an intact Tritium plot. Blocky silver hands set with tritium lume. The running seconds hand is marked separately with a rectangular paddle at the end.
INNER ROTATING BEZEL: The bold internal bezel is adorned with white accents marking five-minute intervals, a third of which are documented by red swatches to denote whatever arbitrary twenty minutes of timing might be of concern. The revolving bezel rotates smoothly when operated by the crown at 3 o’clock.
CRYSTAL: The box shaped plexiglass crystal is very thick and original, giving an appearance of heft to the timepiece. It is signed at the centre and has light signs of use.
CASE: The tonneau shaped stainless steel case with hidden lugs and a highly polished finish, gives a retro appearance to the watch. The case is nicely sized, measuring 37mm in diameter, crowns excluded, while the lug-to-lug length is 41mm. The case is still strong overall, retaining sharp lines and its original profile. Some surface scratches and small nicks can be seen, especially on the sides, which are typical of normal wear in line with the age of this tool watch.
CASEBACK: The caseback is made of stainless steel and bears some incredible details such as the very prominent inward-facing seahorses, a deeply engraved script and a finely cross hatched background. Besides the smaller surface scratches, some deeper nicks and noticeable scratches can be spotted around the notches, probably from a previous opening attempt at some point.
MOVEMENT: Inside the case sits a 25 jewel automatic A. Schild calibre with a lovely gold plated rotor and a beat rate of 18,000 vibrations per hour. All functions operate as the should.
CROWNS: The original dual crowns are both signed with the trademark Rado anchor logo. The one at three o’clock operates smoothly the rotating bezel while the smaller push-pull crown at four o’clock is protected by its recessed position into the case. It operates correctly, but is a bit hard to pull out.
BRACELET: black leather strap with unsigned steel buckle. Other strap options are available upon request.

Given that vintage watches are antique collector items, we do not provide any guarantee on movement accuracy, water-proofing or any other mechanical guarantee unless it is mentioned in the product description.
We check all watches when listing the watch for sales, and again before shipping. In rare cases, shipping can cause the movement problems. Therfore, please check all functions of the watch upon receipt. Should you find any issues, please notifiy us by email without dealy.
