For sale a Omega Geneve Megaquartz 32 KHz from the mid-seventies is in excellent and all original vintage condition. Dial, crystal, crown, caseback, movement and bracelet signed Omega. The watch comes with a 12 months warranty.
Please read the condition report carefully and refer to the high-resolution pictures to help you assess the overall condition of the watch.
MODEL / REFERENCE: Omega Genève Megaquartz Day Date. Ref. 196.0033 and a serial no. 37’490’xxx which dates it to around 1973 / 1974
DIAL+HANDS: The silver dial is a pristine condition with a sunburst effect under direct light. The applied Omega emblem is framed in a red aperture at 12 o’clock, which adds a touch of character and color contrast to the dial, further adding to the charm of the watch. From the text at the center to the minutes track, the white printing on the dial is very sharp and perfectly preserved. The day and date windows are proportionately positioned at 3 o’clock. They are crisp and the discs are clean. The day indication text is written in German. The applied hour markers are in mint condition and set with intact Tritium plots that start to take a creamy yellow patina. The graceful paddle hands are luminous and are correct to the watch. They’re in mint condition and The Tritium has aged at the same rate as the hour lume plots, taking the same warm color.
CRYSTAL: This timepiece comes with its original domed acrylic crystal which is in excellent condition, displaying a couple of very subtle hairline scratches. The Omega logo etched at the center is still evident.
MOVEMENT: Hidden under the caseback, the watch is animated by an electronic calibre 1310, with 8 jewels and a beat frequency of 32,768Hz. This was Omega’s first in-house quartz movement which was produced over the course of five years. Featuring a controlled stepper motor, a sweep seconds hand and a hacking function for precise time setting. There’s a pusher button at 2 o’clock that moves the sweep seconds hand a few seconds ahead each time it’s pushed in. The 4 o’clock pusher button advances the date with each press. The first crown pull sets the hour hand only. The Second pull sets time with both minute and hour hands. The movement has been inspected recently and a new battery has been fitted. The Watch is excellent working order and running strong.
CASE: This watch boasts substantial proportions at 39mm in diameter and 45mm lug to lug. The stainless steel case feels and compares favorably with any modern-day counterpart. Add to that, the rather unusual tonneau shape was manufactured by none other than the prolific Hugenin Fréres, famous for the incredible quality of their cases which are often seen on Speedmasters and Constellations. From the original satin tops and sides finish to the polished razor sharp bevels in between, this watch has been well taken care of and shows only minimal signs of use. The bezel is sloped with a polished finish and is in beautiful condition.
CASEBACK: The screw down stainless steel caseback has 6 notches and is in very good condition, showing some light scratches throughout. It preserves its factory finish, embossed with a very prominent medallion at the center displaying the Omega logo. The inner caseback bears the right stamps for the period such as the Huguenin Frères hallmark, and case reference numbers.
CROWN: The original crown is signed with the Omega logo at the center and functions flawlessly. The two pusher buttons surrounding the crown are correct as well, conceived to quisckset the date and the other button advances the seconds hand.
BRACELET: The watch comes with its original Omega 1236/218 integrated bracelet in full length. Just like the case, the bracelet is in an amazing condition and still retains its satin finish with minimal stretch and very light scratches throughout. The folding clasp is signed with the Omega logo, while the inside is stamped with the correct Omega nomenclature such as the logo and reference numbers.
ACCESSORIES: Safficano Leather roll
