Elusive solid gold Omega De Ville from the early 1970s. It was nicknamed “Emeraude” as a nod to the emerald-like cut of the crystal.
While Omega may be most famed for its Speedmaster chronographs and Seamaster dive watches, its svelte dress watches can be equally compelling with their combined elegance, glamour, and comfort, all while venturing with unique designs. Some of the most unusual and forward-thinking Omega dress watches were exclusively designed by the prolific English jeweler Andrew Grima. During the 1970s Omega launched its own range of watches inspired by Grima’s work that featured the brand’s name and more conventional dial layouts. This more affordable collection was marketed through the De Ville, Constellation and Jeux d’Or lineups.
Please read the condition report carefully and refer to the high-resolution pictures to help you assess the overall condition of the watch.
MODEL / REFERENCE: Omega Deville “Emeraude” reference 5110383.
DIAL+HANDS: The watch features a vertically brushed brown dial with a crisp and complete white imprint. The dial has developed some fine aging signs around the edges, consistent with the age of the watch.
Along with the white stick handset, the ensemble contrasts beautifully with the brown color of the dial and the gold case.
CRYSTAL: The faceted Plexiglas crystal is outstanding condition with no visible scratches.
CASE: The rectangular-shaped, solid 18kt yellow gold case is 31mm wide and 21mm long. It has quite the presence on the wrist and weighs approx. 24 grams. The case is immaculately preserved and most likely unpolished as it maintains a strong profile with sharp lines and unaltered brushed finish. It displays minimal signs of wear for its age, commensurate with careful wear.
CASE BACK: The snap-on case back shows a well-pronounced vertical brushed finish as well as some fine scratches. The inner side is clean and bears all the period-correct stamps, including a Geneva key “Poinçon de Maître” with the reference number.
CROWN: The correct winding crown shows the brand’s logo and operates flawlessly, from winding to time setting.
MOVEMENT: This Omega runs an in-house, manually-wound 620 movement. This small but impressive caliber features 17 jewels and beats at a rate of 19800 vibrations per hour. It is numbered, has been checked and is in excellent mechanical condition, thus keeps good time.
BRACELET: The watch comes with its original Omega leather strap and gold plated steel buckle. A new strap can be ordered upon request.ACCESSORIES: Saffiano Leather Watch Roll.
The dial, crown, case back, movement, and buckle are signed Omega. The watch is fully functional and ready to be worn.
