LEMANIA TG 195 « Tre Kronor » for the Swedish Military We are proud to offer this highly interesting military watch issued by Lemania for the Swedish armed forces between the early 1950s to the mid-1980s. Decades after its first introduction, the « TG 195 » text displayed on this Lemania’s dial is still shrouded in mystery, with multiple speculations about its origin and significance emerging. So far, no answer can be qualified as conclusive as certain theories suppose that “TG” might stand for “Tyg Grupp 195” or “Task Group 195,” a military storage facility unit, while others argue that it may have been allocated to the artillery division, both within the Swedish armed forces. Another theory supposes that it stands for “Tid Givare” which means “Time Giver” in Swedish, and perhaps the “195” denomination, is the watch’s item number within the Swedish army’s inventory logs… While many speculations arise, one thing is certain.. Military watches are absolutely spectacular examples of mid-century watchmaking and with a special synchronisation watch from Lemania like this one, it’s easy to see why ! MODEL / REFERENCE: Lemania Synchronisation watch issued for the Swedish Military forces AKA “Tre Kronor”. It was issued circa 1954.

DIAL+HANDS: The black dial has a super glossy finish and a crisp gilt printing that extends from the brand’s logo to the outer minutes track. The whole surface has aged into developing a uniform, spotting patina. There is a noticeable lacquer damage blot between the 3 and 4 o’clock markers. The elegant and slender needle hands are infilled with lume, along with the central seconds hand. The ensemble is correct and in good aesthetic condition. They have been relumed, which is quite normal for a military watch. We intend to have the hands professionally relumed to match the lume on the dial. The Arabic numerals are beautifully aged. Some numbers show loss or the luminous mass.

CRYSTAL: The plexiglas crystal is in good condition, showing only light signs of use.

CASE: Sized at 40mm, the stainless steel case curves over the wrist via its long lugs that span for 46mm, ensuring a modern presence and a comfortable fit. The step case has an asymmetric construction with a beefier right side to better protect the crown and pusher from accidental bumps. It remains most likely unpolished and in original shape with thick, even lugs and fixed bars. The surface displays the original brushed finish and remains free of major wear, despite some minor scuffs throughout commensurate with age and use.

CASE BACK: The stainless steel case back is in almost immaculate condition. The surface is virtually scratch-free and the original brushed finish can be seen unaltered. Along with the production year and the military issue number, the three crowns engravings are very crisp and denote that the watch is proprety of the state, kind of the same with the British Broad Arrow significance. The inner side is clean, perlage decorated and bears the period-correct stamps and few service marks. The anti magnetic dust cover is present and free of any damage.

CROWN + PUSHER: The winding crown is unsigned as it should and displays some light scratches. The pump pusher appears to be original as well. They function perfectly as intended: Pressing the top pusher pops the crown out and resets the seconds hand to zero. Only by pushing the crown back in, the watch starts again.
