Heuer Carrera “Fumé Dial” Automatic Chronograph Ref. 110.573, original documents

We are proud to present this Heuer Carrera that easily sets itself apart from its contemporaries, with an interesting cushion case shape, attractive Fumé dial and an improved version of the world’s first automatic chronograph with a micro rotor: The Cal.12.

The Carrera comes with its original warranty booklet, which shows that the watch was sold on October 19, 1982 in Sion, Switzerland.

DIAL+HANDS: The metallic blue dial is a feat of artistic engineering which is further enhanced by a beautiful, scalloped finish. It shows off various levels of details, from a crisp text to an outstanding tachymeter scale that surrounds it beautifully. There are few minor marks which are hardly seen with the naked eye when the watch is worn. The framed date window at six o’clock adds a nice balance to the dial, with a clean date disc. The orange hands are absolutely gorgeous and correct for this reference. They are well preserved with a vibrant color and intact tritium inlays that have turned into a rich, custard tone. The applied silver markers are dissected with white stripes. They have aged beautifully, and each one is associated to a fully intact Tritium mass. The markers have taken on a nice matching patina to the handset inlays, remaining fully intact.

CRYSTAL: This Carrera comes equipped with its original mineral crystal, which is in fair vintage condition, displaying a visible scratch at 6 o’clock. The mineral crystal will be replaced with a new one.

CASE: The two-body, tonneau-shaped case in stainless steel measures 39mm in diameter and 44mm from lug to lug. This example is in overall good condition, retaining a crisp sunburst brushing on the top portion, with signs of light polishing on the sides The case is still sharp and shows some light signs of use consistent with the age of the watch. The reference and serial numbers are clearly visible between both sets of lugs.

CASEBACK: The 6 notches, screw-down case back is in lovely vintage condition and retains its original brushed finish. It displays some marks, expected from normal wear and the passage of time. The bottom shows a clearly visible “412” engraving. The inner side is clean and signed “Heuer – Leonidas S.A” along with the other correct stamps.

CROWN+PUSHERS: As a signature feature of the movement, the Heuer signed crown is situated on the left side of the watch and operates flawlessly, from winding to time setting. The pump chronograph pushers are correct to this reference and can be found on the right side. They operate the chronograph functions flawlessly.

MOVEMENT: This timepiece is powered by the cam-switched Calibre 12 automatic chronograph featuring a micro rotor. This movement offers a Bi-Compax display, with a 30-minute register at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour totalizer at 9 o’clock. The date is indicated at 6 o’clock and can be semi-quickset. It is clean and all functions have been inspected. It keeps accurate time, and everything works perfectly as intended. BRACELET: The original, flat-link bracelet comes in full length and straight endlinks. It is in a good overall condition and still retains its satin finish with some visible scratches throughout. The folding clasp is signed and closes securely.

ACCESSORIES: Saffiano Leather Watch Roll and original warranty booklet, dated 19.10.1982 The dial, crown, case back, movement, and clasp are signed Heuer. The watch is fully functional and ready to be worn.
