Zenith Vintage “El Primero” chronograph ref. A385

We are proud to present this impressive 1970s Zenith A385 in original vintage condition, powered by the iconic El Primero Cal. 3019PHC.

DIAL+HANDS: The ombré dial shows a gorgeous light brown gradient coloration. Overall, it’s nearly immaculate with a crisp imprint and no noticeable defects. A light patina can be observed throughout, especially near the center of each subdial. . The signature date window between 4 and 5 o’clock features a clean disc. . The tachymeter scale surrounding the outer edge is clean with sharp printing. . The correct hands come in lovely condition with untouched tritium inlays at each tip, that acquired a slightly darker tone. · The applied hour markers still retain their original luminous mass. The Tritium inlays are fully intact and match the handset’s patina.

CRYSTAL: The acrylic glass is in very good condition with only few minor scratches throughout.

CASE: The tonneau-shaped steel case measures 37mm in diameter and 47mm from lug to lug. It’s easily recognizable thanks to its sharp angles that amplify the on-wrist presence all while maintaining a proportional and balanced profile. The case has retained sharp angles, prominent side bevels and a sunburst brushed finish on the top portion. Some dents and scratches can be seen throughout, commensurate with the age and use of the watch.

CASE BACK: The dodecagonal, screw-down case back shows a well-pronounced Zenith medallion, over a sandblasted background. It has been lightly polished, displaying a slightly faded serial number along with hairline scratches covering the matte-finished center and mirrored flange. The inner side is clean and bears the period-correct stamps.

CROWNS + PUSHERS: The winding crown bears the Zenith logo and is a later replacement. It operates flawlessly, all the way to quick setting the date function. The pump chronograph pushers work correctly, starting, stopping and resetting with crisp feedback.

MOVEMENT: The self-winding, 3019PHC movement features 31 jewels and beats at an impressive rate of 36000 vibrations per hour, allowing improved accuracy. It offers a Tri-Compax display, featuring constant running seconds at 9 o’clock, a 30 minute recorder at 3 o’clock and a 12 hour totalizer at 6 o’clock. The movement also allows a quick-set date function.The numbered calibre has been checked for good performance. It is in excellent mechanical condition, keeping good time, with all functions working perfectly.

BRACELET: As a nice extra, the Gay Frères ladder bracelet comes complete with a pair of correct, 20mm ZKM end links. Other than its fantastic condition and minimal scratches, the flexible links allow the bracelet to sit comfortably on a large sized wrist. The flip-lock folding clasp closes securely and displays the date stamp with the correct nomenclature, as well as the Zenith name.

ACCESSORIES: Saffiano Leather Watch Roll. The dial, crown, case back, movement, and clasp are signed Zenith. The watch is fully functional and ready to be worn.
