It is not just brands like Piaget and Cartier that made out of the box and quirky shaped watches over the past half century. The present Universal Genève hailing from the 1970s, has one of the most compelling and honest configurations to be created, with its solid gold tank case and Malachite dial, it does not get much better than this.

DIAL+HANDS: The dial is where this watch really shines with its clean overall look. It is elegantly minimal as to highlight the beauty of the Malachite. Preserved in original condition, it displays no cracks or damage along with a warm patina from age, topped with a very sharp and complete white imprint. Along with the pencil white hands, the ensemble contrasts beautifully with the different shades of green of the hardstone.
CRYSTAL: The mineral crystal is in pristine condition without any noticeable defects.
CASE: The tank-shaped solid yellow gold case is 22mm wide and measures 30mm from lug to lug. It is most likely unpolished as it maintains a strong profile with a well-defined allure and intact screws on the side. The surface displays minimal marks of wear for its age, commensurate with careful use.
CASE BACK: The case back is in solid yellow gold and has been very well preserved, as the vertical brushed finish and the crisply stamped reference number appear to be unaltered. The surface however displays some minor hairline scratches throughout, as well as the glue residue of its protective sticker. The inner side is clean and bears all the period-correct stamps. The Poinçon de Maître displays the number 38 indicative of the case maker: Max Fuchs S.A.
CROWN: The original crown bears the brand’s signature and operates flawlessly.
MOVEMENT: The in-house caliber 1-43 is a simplistic yet reliable, manually wound movement, featuring 17 jewels and an incabloc shock protection. The numbered caliber is in excellent mechanical condition, winds smoothly and keeps accurate time, despite the unknown service history.
BRACELET: The genuine, brown leather strap with lizard motif is signed Universal Genève. It is lightly worn and comes with an original, golden pin-buckle.
ACCESSORIES: Saffiano Leather Watch Roll. The dial, crown, case back, movement, and buckle are signed. The watch is fully functional and ready to be worn.
WARRANTY: We guarantee the authenticity of the watch. We also provide 12-month guarantee for the correct function of this timepiece. All guarantees are subject to the General Terms and conditions. We check all watches when listing the watch for sales, and again before shipping. In rare cases, shipping can cause the movement problems. Therfore, please check all functions of the watch upon receipt. Should you find any issues, please notifiy us by email without dealy.
