MODEL / REFERENCE: Universal Geneve Full Calendar reference 11303. The case’s serial number dates its production to circa 1945.

DIAL+HANDS: The vertically brushed champagne dial is in immaculate condition, with a crisp imprint, aged lume dots and Arabic numerals marker at 12. It is extremely well-balanced all while adorning a nice color contrast.

The moon-phases and month display at 6 o’clock, along with the weekday’s window at 12 o’clock feature clean discs and a sharp text in French.

The auxiliary dials for the subsidiary seconds at 9 o’clock and half-instantaneous date at 3 o’clock remain also clean and show a beautifully concentric pattern design.

The thin, leaf handset along with the small register hands are all original and remain in wonderful condition, having slightly aged to match the dial’s patina.

CRYSTAL: The Plexiglas crystal is clean and displays no noticeable damage except for some hardly visible scratches.

CASE: At 32.5mm in diameter, the three-body, solid pink gold case oozes class as it is very well proportioned, and those angled lugs are a joy to behold. It appears that the case has been polished in the past but remains in lovely condition overall, as it still shows a visible hallmark on the side and some wear marks throughout, commensurate with the impressive age of the watch. The three small pusher buttons protrude at 8 and 10 o’clock, presenting no damage nor issues.

CASEBACK: The present example comes with a Snap-on, pink gold case back. In overall good condition, it displays some faint scratches, along with very legible serial and reference numbers. The inner side is clean and decorated with a beautiful perlage motif. It bears all its period correct stamps, including the master case maker’s hallmark: Jung & Cie from La Chaux-De-Fonds.

CROWN + PUSHERS: The golden crown is believed to be original to the watch despite not bearing any logo. It operates flawlessly, from winding to time setting. The three adjusting buttons at 8 and 10 o’clock work perfectly: Advancing the monophase, the month and the date.

MOVEMENT: The in-house calibre 291 is manually wound and looks very clean. This high-quality movement is signed and numbered. It features 17 jewels and animates a total set of 5 hands and 2 discs. Timekeeping tests shows good accuracy, and all the functions work perfectly fine.

BRACELET: The watch is paired with an 18mm black leather strap, courtesy of Antiquorum, and comes complete with a pink gold-plated pin buckle.

ACCESSORIES: Saffiano Leather Watch Roll. The generous amount of information contained on the dial is artfully orchestrated, easy-to-read, and topped off with an attractive pink gold case. The watch is in lovely vintage condition and lived long enough to attest to Universal Genève’s glory days.
