The 18038 marks an important little milestone: The arrival of the single-quickset Day-Date. Its Cal. 3055 lets you jump the date without winding the hands around the dial all day, a small convenience that made a big difference.
This example brings the gold, the fluted bezel, and an eggshell dial dressed in Roman numerals, with Tritium plots that have developed just the right vintage warmth.
Recently serviced and in exceptional condition, it’s a Day-Date with Spanish on the agenda and plenty of golden-era charm. ¡Muy elegante!

MODEL / REFERENCE: Rolex Day-Date, reference 18038. Dating from 1978, this third generation reference brings to the table a sapphire crystal and the convenience of a quickset date function. Inventory Number: 60902-2.
DIAL + HANDS: The eggshell dial is exceptionally well-preserved and features applied Roman numeral hour markers, a rare and distinctive detail that lends the watch a refined character. The gently aged surface is mostly clean, preserving a crisp imprint through.
The Spanish day and date discs are clean.
Beautifully aged luminous Tritium dots, complemented by the matching baton handset.
CRYSTAL: Sapphire crystal, in excellent condition.
CASE: Solid 18k yellow gold Oyster case, measuring 36mm in diameter and 44mm from lug to lug.
In exceptional overall condition, the case retains even, thick lugs and sharp bezel along with a mix of brushed finish on top and polished sides. The hallmarks on the back of each lug remain deep and crisp.
CASEBACK: The original yellow gold case back remains in excellent condition, with intact knurling, correct finishing and light scratches throughout.
The inner side is factory engraved and carries the correct signatures and hallmarks, including master casemaker: Genex S.A.
CROWN: Signed, “Twinlock” screw-down crown in yellow gold.
MOVEMENT: COSC-certified Rolex Calibre 3055, a self-winding mechanical movement featuring a quickset date function and day display. Signed and numbered, it has recently been serviced, thus runs accurately and the calendar functions change exactly at midnight.
STRAP / BUCKLE: Genuine Rolex leather strap, paired with a signed, gold-plated pin buckle.
ACCESSORIES: Saffiano leather watch roll.
WARRANTY: We guarantee the authenticity of the watch and provide a 12-month warranty for its correct functioning. All warranties are subject to our General Terms and Conditions.

CHRONOSCOPE is not liable for defects to the products caused by improper handling by the buyer or any third parties, as well as for general wear and tear.
The warranty for defects is null and void if the customer or a third-party attempt to repair the products themselves, unless prior specific written agreements have been made with CHRONOSCOPE
The compensation for the violation of contractual obligations by CHRONOSCOPE is limited to the amount paid by the buyer.
Due to the nature of vintage timepieces, all watches are sold as is. We will accurately describe the current condition and working order of all watches we sell to the best of our ability. Given that vintage watches are antique collector items, we do not provide any guarantee on movement accuracy, water-proofing or any other mechanical guarantee unless it is mentioned in the product description.
We check all watches when listing the watch for sales, and again before shipping. In rare cases, shipping can cause the movement problems. Therfore, please check all functions of the watch upon receipt. Should you find any issues, please notifiy us by email without dealy.
In the unlikely case you should not be satisfied with the watch you receive, contact us and we will work towards finding a solution.
