The present Omega reference is a fine example of the brand’s post-war watchmaking philosophy: Generous proportions, purposeful details, and no interest in unnecessary frills.
Its oversized waterproof case, Explorer-style dial and Radium-inlayed dauphine hands land it in that lovely sweet spot between dress-watch elegance and utilitarian practicality, while the automatic Calibre 283 brings some serious mechanical pedigree to the table. A proper vintage all-rounder, with plenty of character to spare!

MODEL / REFERENCE: Omega Dress Watch reference 2640-SC. The 13 million serial number dates its production year to circa 1952. Inventory Code: 60920-2.
DIAL+HANDS: Silver “Explorer” dial that features an applied logo, along with triangular indexes and Arabic numerals. It has gently aged with some sporadic spotting and a crisp imprint.
The aged Radium dots remain present, complemented by the inlays of the original dauphine hands.
CRYSTAL: The Plexiglass crystal is mostly clean, without any major damage, apart from some few hairline scratches.
CASE: Oversize, 36mm stainless steel case, featuring elegant, slightly twisted and downturned lugs. The surface displays various nicks and scratches that can be seen all over, as expected from age and wear.
CASEBACK: The screw-down, stainless steel case back has six opening notches. It comes in good overall condition, with some scratches, and a very prominent custom engraving in German. (Gifted to a certain Johann Gübeli for his 25 years of faithful service at one of the biggest cement and building material companies)
The inner side is clean and marked with the correct stamps for the period, serial number included.
CROWN: Signed crown, likely original. It operates perfectly, from winding to time setting.
MOVEMENT: In-house Cal. 283, signed and numbered. It has been checked and tested; therefore, it winds smoothly and shows good results on the timegrapher.
BRACELET: Newly fitted black leather strap with lizard motif and an unsigned steel pin buckle.
ACCESSORIES: Saffiano Leather watch roll.
WARRANTY: We guarantee the authenticity of the watch. We also provide a 12-month guarantee for the correct function of this timepiece. All guarantees are subject to the General Terms and conditions.

Excluded from the warranty for defects are the accuracy, waterproof / water resistance, wear of the wristband and general wear and tear, scratches on the wristband or case, and damage to the glass / crystal.
CHRONOSCOPE is not liable for defects to the products caused by improper handling by the buyer or any third parties, as well as for general wear and tear.
The warranty for defects is null and void if the customer or a third-party attempt to repair the products themselves, unless prior specific written agreements have been made with CHRONOSCOPE
The compensation for the violation of contractual obligations by CHRONOSCOPE is limited to the amount paid by the buyer.
Due to the nature of vintage timepieces, all watches are sold as is. We will accurately describe the current condition and working order of all watches we sell to the best of our ability. Given that vintage watches are antique collector items, we do not provide any guarantee on movement accuracy, water-proofing or any other mechanical guarantee unless it is mentioned in the product description.
We check all watches when listing the watch for sales, and again before shipping. In rare cases, shipping can cause the movement problems. Therfore, please check all functions of the watch upon receipt. Should you find any issues, please notifiy us by email without dealy.
In the unlikely case you should not be satisfied with the watch you receive, contact us and we will work towards finding a solution.
