MODEL / REFERENCE: Omega Seamaster chronograph, ref 145.0066-66. The 25 Million serial number puts its production date to circa 1967.
DIAL+HANDS: The matte black dial is amazingly preserved and retains a sharp imprint all the way to the contrasting tachymeter scale. The three sunken subdials are also clean and crisp. The whole surface has gently aged, developing an inconspicuous and uniform patina. The greenish Tritium indexes are present and fully intact, they have started to acquire a darker patina that matches the handset’s. The Tritium coated handset is in good aesthetic condition and correct to this reference. The original lume has aged to similar tone as the indexes. The minute hand shows light cracks in the lume, which is only visible when inspected by loupe.
CRYSTAL: The Haselite crystal shows some barely visible hairline scratches and a very well pronounced Omega signature at the center.
CASE: This Seamaster boasts a sublimely wearable, 38mm stainless steel case and this particular example is in spectacular condition with a slightly curved, tonneau shape that bridges the round style of the 60s and the funkier 70s cases that would emerge later. The surface remains clean with no noticeable damage, it displays its original brushed finish and razor sharp bevels.
CASE BACK: The stainless steel, screw-down case back has six opening notches and virtually no visible scratches. The original brushed finish can be seen unaltered for almost six decades. The mirror-polished Seahorse medallion at the center is as crisp and sharp as the day it left the Omega workshop. The inner side is clean, perlage decorated and bears the period-correct nomenclature.
CROWN + PUSHERS: The grooved winding crown is signed with the Omega logo at the center and functions flawlessly. The pump chronograph pushers are original as well. They start, stop and reset the chronograph module crisply.
MOVEMENT: This Seamaster is animated by one of the most coveted chronograph movements, made famous by the Speedmaster: The Cal. 321, based on the Lemania 2310. The manually wound, copper finished caliber features a two-button, three-register, chronograph movement with a column wheel. It uses running small seconds at 9 o’clock, a central seconds hand and two recording subdials positioned respectively at 3 and 6 o’clock positions. The signed movement has been checked by our watchmaker; it ticks strong and keeps accurate time. The chronograph starts stops and resets smoothly. BRACELET: The stainless steel bracelet is as comfortable to wear, as it is beautiful, thanks to its geometry that combines a Jubilee with a Beads of Rice construction. Along with the straight end links, the ensemble is in wonderful condition, fitting a 19 cm wrist. It appears that the bracelet is a later addition to the watch, which is often seen on leather straps. The signed clasp bears the period-correct nomenclature, including the reference number 1175.ACCESSORIES: Original Omega presentation box and International Warranty booklet. (not stamped) The dial, crystal, crown, case back, movement, and clasp are signed Omega. The watch is fully functional and ready to be worn.
