Lemania RAF monopusher chronograph MK III, 6BB/924-3306 from 1967
We proudly present this rare and distinctive Lemania MK III monopusher chronograph issued for the British Royal Airforce. The highlight of this rare military chronograph is the original dial and of course the high-grade calibre Lemania 2220. MODEL / REFERENCE: Lemania Mark III monopusher chronograph, issued to the British Royal Airforce. Model ref. 924-3306, case serial number 1065/60. Our inventory number: 240621-3
DIAL+HANDS: The original black dial is exceptionally well preserved. The 12 and 6 o’clock Arabic numerals are luminous as well as the hour marker dots. The intact lume on the dial has aged beautifully taking a dark brown tone. The luminous syringe hands are correct and are in excellent condition. When activated with UV light, the tritium on the dial and hands reacts and then fades off.
CRYSTAL: The watch comes with its correct plexiglass crystal in good condition.
MOVEMENT: This timepiece is fitted with a manually wound Lemania Cal. 2220. The watch has been checked by our watchmaker and keeps good time. The chronograph starts, stops, and resets correctly and all functions operate as they should. Movement serial number 1’433’441
CASE: This watch is part of the third series as it features the distinctive asymmetric case style, designed to protect the pusher and crown from accidental damage. The stainless steel case has a great presence with 40mm in diameter and 46mm lug to lug. Overall, it is in good condition, showing signs of use and marks throughout, as you would expect from a tool-watch with a military history. The 20mm spring bars are welded to the case for added security.
CASEBACK: The original screw-down case back has six notches and matches the case’s condition. It displays very strong and legible military engravings that reveal relevant information about the watch: The broad Arrow or ‘Pheon’ indicates a military lineage, a property of her majesty’s service. “6BB” denotes the issuing agency: The Royal Airforce The model type number is 924-3306. 3306 signals the presence of a black, luminous dial.
CROWN+PUSHER: The winding crown is correct despite being unsigned. It is in lovely condition and operates flawlessly, from winding to time setting. The pump chronograph pusher at 2 o’clock operates crisply, starting, stopping and resetting the chronograph hands at 12.
BRACELET: This Lemania comes supplied with a NATO style strap with steel buckle.
