Since 1952 the Omega Constellation has been the brand’s flagship model, symbolizing the highest level of technical know-how and chronometer level accuracy. This particular example hails from around 1974 when the Constellation shifted to a different case design dubbed the “C” model, which was initially conceived in 1964 by none other than Gérald Genta.

Keep your eyes on the stars with this dressy Constellation, a must have for every discerning Omega collector!

Please read the condition report carefully to help you assess the overall condition of the watch.

MODEL / REFERENCE:  Omega Constellation “C” Ref. ST 168.0056, serial number of 38M puts its year of manufacture to circa 1974.

DIAL+HANDS: The brushed grey dial is fairly deeply recessed into the case, giving it some extra depth. The Omega logo and name at 6 o’clock are applied creating a mesmerizing light play effect.

This stylish dial is easy to read, keeping a minimal layout with a framed date window at 3 o’clock. It is in pristine condition showing a crisp text and complete imprint.

The periphery is ornate with oxidized stick indexes which are dissected by vertical black onyx accents. Each hour marker is coupled with an intact Tritium plot that started to age to darker tone.

The silver hour and minute hands have a beautiful stick design with onyx inlays and luminous tips, further adding to the charming industrial overall look of the watch.

CRYSTAL: The watch comes equipped with a correct flat pane Plexiglass crystal which is in honest condition, displaying a couple of very subtle marks that can be polished off.

MOVEMENT:Inside the watch we can observe the inhouse Omega caliber 1011 with its signature copper plated color. This highly reliable automatic movement offers a quickset date function and a hacking feature for precise synchronization of time setting.

This chronometer certified movement has been adjusted to five positions as well as temperature to increase its precision. It has been freshly cleaned and serviced thus it winds smoothly, runs perfectly and keeps accurate time.

CASE: The svelte stainless steel case measures 35 mm in diameter and 40mm lug to lug allowing it to seat itself squarely and comfortably on the modern wrist. The “C” shape is revised variant of the classic cushion profile, the beauty of it is the fully integrated lugs that give the impression of a larger size.

The case has stood the test of time, remaining unpolished and therefore in original shape.

The satin finished bezel and sharp chamfers are also part of the game and give a beautiful play of light to the whole package.

Upon close inspection, the case is in outstanding condition with light wear marks consistent with its age. There’s a very minor nick on the edge of the bottom right lug.

CASEBACK: Just like the case, the six notches screw-down caseback is in very good condition as well. It retains its satin finish, and displays very minor hairline scratches throughout.

The center is adorned with an incredibly crisp Geneva observatory medallion over a sandblasted background and sitting under and 8 star constellation, a nod to Omega’s acing of every category of the observatory accuracy tests

The inside caseback is stamped with the correct Omega nomenclature for the period, from the “KB” casemaker’s hallmark and case reference number.

CROWN: The unsigned crown functions as intended from winding to time setting. The quickset date function is operated by pulling the crown out to its final position.

PS: Quick-setting the date should only be done with the hands at the lower half of the dial.

BRACELET: The watch comes with newly fitted leather strap to complete its timeless look.

ACCESSORIES:ChronoScope Saffiano Leather watch roll.

Omega knew how to create a handsome, timeless design with an elegant finish and coupled it with a rich horological history. This lovely example comes with a friendly price tag and offers Omega’s pedigree and performance in a retro styled package that is unmistakably refreshing.
