18k Omega “Centenary” Dress Watch Reference OT 2500 We present a time only watch that exudes an air of pure class, clothed in solid yellow gold and happens to be the first chronometer-certified automatic timepiece ever produced by Omega to celebrate its 100th anniversary, hence the nickname. Launched in 1948 along with the Seamaster lineup, the Centenary paved the way to initiate the development of a follow-up model intended for mass production, ultimately evolving into a distinctive collection synonymous with excellent quality and timekeeping precision: The Constellation. Please read the condition report carefully and refer to the high-resolution pictures to help you assess the overall condition of the watch.
MODEL / REFERENCE: Omega Centenary Dress watch reference OT 2500 in 18k yellow gold. The 10 million serial number dates the movement’s production to circa 1946 but this model was launched in 1948 and seems to have used an old movement which is not an anomaly.
DIAL+HANDS: The golden dial is cleverly divided by the minutes track to a matte center and a circular brushed periphery. The black imprint is immaculate and complete throughout. The surface started to age, showing darker “veins”, namely inside and around the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. The applied Arabic numerals and geometric indices are intact and have developed some patina overtime. The elegant dauphine hands have kept their originality but show some wear and scratches.
CRYSTAL: The Plexiglass crystal does not feature the omega engraving however it appears to have the correct shape. It is mostly clean, apart from some surface marks than can be polished off.
CASE: The 35.5mm yellow gold case offers a good wrist presence thanks to its elongated, downturned lugs that ensure a comfortable fit on the wrist. It maintains a strong shape throughout, all the way to the crisp hallmark on the back of the top left lug. The previously polished surface displays some tiny scratches, commensurate with age and wear.
CASEBACK: The snap-on, yellow gold back is in good vintage condition, with visible scratches over a mirror-polished surface. The inner side is nicely decorated and marked with the correct nomenclature for the period. The key of Geneva displays the number 4 indicative of the master case maker “Antoine Gerlach SA”.
CROWN: The fluted crown is embossed with a well-defined Omega logo at the center. It is a later replacement, but it operates flawlessly, from winding to time setting.
MOVEMENT: The in-house, Cal. 30,10 JUB is a chronometer certified bumper automatic movement that has features 17 jewels. It is numbered, and its mechanical condition has been checked, thus it winds smoothly and keeps accurate time.
BRACELET: 18mm black leather strap with a signed, gold-plated pin buckle.
ACCESSORIES: Saffiano Leather watch roll.
WARRANTY: We guarantee the authenticity of the watch. We also provide 12 months guarantee for the correct function of this timepiece. All guarantees are subject to the General Terms and conditions.
